A DMfit push-in fitting connects tubing by direct insertion. The gripping system retains the tube while an O-ring seals against its outside surface. For a correct connection, the tube must reach the fully inserted position specified for the fitting.

The parts of the connection

  • Body: houses the tube socket and may include another connection or a threaded port.
  • Collet: forms part of the tube-retention system and allows release when pressed as instructed.
  • O-ring: provides the seal; its material must suit the fluid and operating conditions.
  • Tubing: outside diameter, tolerance and surface condition must match the fitting.

Which fitting shape should you choose?

A straight union joins two tubes in line. An elbow changes direction; a tee or Y creates a branch. Reducers connect different sizes, and threaded adaptors connect tubing to equipment. Select the shape together with the size of every inlet and outlet.

Tube size and thread size

Tube outside diameter and thread designation are different specifications. A 1/4-inch tube has an outside diameter of 6.35 mm: it is not the same as a 6 mm tube or a nominal 1/4-inch thread. Check the complete part description before ordering.

Can the connection be disconnected?

Yes, following the product instructions and after all pressure has been released. Reuse requires inspection of both tubing and fitting: distorted, scratched or seal-damaged parts must be replaced. A push-in fitting cannot compensate for incorrectly sized tubing or a defective cut.
