If a DMfit connection leaks, locate the fluid exit point and stop the circuit before working on it. Leakage may involve the tube, assembly, fitting or operating conditions: random tightening does not address the cause.
Checks in order
- Isolate and depressurise: stop the pressure source and release residual pressure.
- Check the tube: confirm a square cut, correct outside diameter, undamaged surface and no ovality.
- Check insertion: a tube retained by the collet may still not be fully seated.
- Remove side loads: correct tight bends, short tubing runs, twisting and vibration.
- Inspect the fitting: look for cracks or deformation; do not open or modify its internal components.
- Check operation: compare actual pressure, temperature and fluid with the part specifications.
When to replace parts
A cracked body, damaged gripping system or compromised seal requires replacement with an appropriate product. If the sealing area of the tube is marked, replace the tube or prepare a new end only if enough length remains for a strain-free route.
Preventive maintenance
Keep connections accessible and inspect them after service. Inspection frequency depends on the equipment, cycles and fluid; there is no universal interval for every installation. Recording the replaced part number, symptoms and conditions helps identify repeated failures.
What about filter strainers?
DMfit strainers have removable parts designed for servicing. Isolate and depressurise before opening, follow the model instructions and check seals before returning to service. A mesh screen is not a microbiological water treatment.
