In filtration and reverse-osmosis equipment, DMfit fittings connect tubing and circuit components. Selection starts with tube outside diameter, connection type and the conditions of the line where the fitting will be installed.
Understand the circuit before ordering
Identify the supply, filter inlets and outlets, dispenser line and any branches. In RO equipment distinguish the lines specified by the manufacturer, including the drain: do not relocate valves or restrictors without following the equipment diagram.
Useful components
- Straights and elbows: join tubing or change direction for an organised route.
- Tees and reducers: create branches and transitions between specified sizes.
- Valves: provide the shut-off or non-return function intended for the model.
- LLDPE tubing: available in metric and inch sizes, selected by dimensions and performance.
- Mesh strainers: retain particles according to the screen characteristics; they do not replace membranes or water-treatment processes.
Do not confuse 6 mm and 1/4 inch
A 1/4-inch tube has a 6.35 mm outside diameter. It must not be inserted into a 6 mm socket: use the correct size or an adaptor designed to connect the two sizes. Also check whether a 1/4-inch connection refers to a tube socket or a thread.
Potable water and maintenance
For drinking-water lines, verify documentation for the selected components. Keep connections accessible, identify lines and check for leaks after filter replacement. Cleaning, flushing and commissioning must follow the equipment manufacturer’s instructions.
